What Is WXT Burns?
A token burn is the process of permanently removing cryptocurrency tokens from circulation by sending them to a non-retrievable wallet address. This effectively reduces the total supply, making the remaining tokens scarcer—potentially increasing their value.
WXT Burns refer to the process where WEEX permanently removes a portion of WXT tokens from circulation by repurchasing them and sending them to a burn address. This reduces the total supply, increases scarcity, and potentially boosts token value. Starting in 2025, WEEX will burn WXT quarterly using 20% of its platform profits.
In the case of WXT, WEEX uses token burns as part of its long-term growth strategy. Here’s why it matters:
- Increases Scarcity: A smaller supply can lead to higher demand and price appreciation.
- Builds Trust: Regular burns reflect the platform’s confidence in its ecosystem and commitment to value.
- Benefits Holders: With fewer tokens in circulation, existing WXT holders may see increased value over time.
WEEX’s burn model takes inspiration from industry leaders like Binance (which has burned over $1.16 billion in BNB) and Bitget (planning to burn up to $5 billion in BGB).
