Bits

Bits are a smaller unit of measurement for Bitcoin. Each Bitcoin is divisible into 100 million units, called satoshis. One bit is equivalent to 100 satoshis or 1 millionth of a Bitcoin. As the price of Bitcoin has grown, referring to amounts in whole bitcoins can become cumbersome, especially for small transactions. To make Bitcoin more accessible for everyday transactions and easier to comprehend, bits provide a simpler way to express smaller denominations of Bitcoin. For example, if 1 Bitcoin is worth $50,000, 1 bit would be worth $0.05, making it easier to represent microtransactions. Using bits as a smaller denomination helps users deal with smaller amounts of Bitcoin, especially when Bitcoin’s price increases significantly, making transactions easier to visualize.
