Marathon Petroleum and its subsidiaries operate as an integrated downstream energy company in the United States. The company operates through three business segments: refining and marketing; midstream; and renewable diesel. The refining and marketing segment refines crude oil and other feedstocks at refineries along the Gulf Coast, Midland, and West Coast of the United States; purchases finished petroleum products and ethanol for resale; and distributes finished petroleum products through transportation, storage, distribution, and marketing services. Its finished petroleum products include transportation fuels such as reformed and blended gasoline; heavy fuel oils; and asphalt.
